[1969] It's A Beautiful Day - Love For You (Bulgaria)

listen to the song:

released 1969 on the selftitled album "It's A Beautiful Day". But the single "Bulgaria / Aquarian Dream" was rleased 1968. The band was founded in San Francisco 2 years before, 1967. Sweet San Francisco Psychedelic Rock, the singing á la Jefferson Airplane... the violin takes a very important part in this song I belive... Enjoy! greetings, amadeus :)

and thanks for some great info's by "Anonymous" ;) about this song:
The single "Bulgaria" was mis-titled by their manager Matthew Katz. The song (which also appeared on the Pipe Dream comp) is called "Love For You" (which is obvious when you listen to it!). The flipside, although good, is nothing to do with the IABD band at all, and was more Matthew Katz "magaing".

What Anonymous wrote earlier is indeed on the mark. Aquarian Dream was recorded by members of Indian Puddin' & Pipe (IP&P) to the best of my knowledge, a pleasant sounding outfit with direct ties (lineage) to West Coast Natural Gas (WCNG).

The song was written by one Uzilevsky, who assisted IP&P on rhythm guitar during the recording session. Also heard is June Richards on vocals, who I believe later [?] married the song's producer, Matthew Katz. Pat Craig and Steve Mack are believed to have lent backing vocals during this project, besides playing.

Be that as it may, Aquarian Dream was *NOT* recorded by It's A Beautiful Day or members of that unit, even if they were given credit as such due c/o Katz's snake-oil ways. David Laflamme was the composer behind Bulgaria (aka Love For You), and I believe what you have here is one of IABD's first studio recordings, back even before guitarist Hal Wagenet joined the group.

IABD most likely recorded this track sometime in the fall of 1967 at Post Recorders in San Fran under Katz's direction. A different, somewhat altered version appears on IABD's first album, again titled Bulgaria, recorded in late '68/early '69 by Laflamme & Co in LA.

Hope this info helps the old West Coast psychedelia faithful (H|A diehards). Oceanside J

Tschüss!
